Henry Rider

Henry Orne Rider (1860 - 1943) was active/lived in Massachusetts.  Henry Rider is known for Landscape, genre, figure, etching.

Rider (occasionally spelled Ryder) was born in Salem, Massachusetts.  He attended Newton schools and studied at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, and overseas at the École des Beaux-Arts and the Académie Julian in Paris.  He belonged to several art associations and exhibited locally at the Boston Art Club and the Newton Club in 1895-96.  He was professor of art at Lasell Junior College and Mt. Ida Junior College, both in Newton, and superintendent of art in the Dedham public schools.

The Charles was a favorite motif for Rider, who lived near the river in Auburndale, a part of Newton.
